Stellar’s first BI and Analytics meetup in Wellington

Thanks to everyone who joined us after work last Thursday in Wellington for our first ‘Stellar BI & Analytics Meet-Up’. We had around 50 attendees at Dockside.

Things kicked off with Stellar consulting partner Travis Barker painting a picture of what could constitute ‘Perfect BI’ in a future world. In discussing this, Travis outlined three areas requiring consideration in any future BI environment: next generation platforms and architectures, data management considerations and the skills and capabilities to support these.

Travis and Stellar CTO Chris du Toit then held an informal Q&A around some of the market trends we are seeing that are affecting these areas.

We then moved into the meat of the evening – a Q&A with our three quest speakers:

  • Deb Struthers – Chief Client Officer, Ministry of Health
  • Mark Topham – Head of Data and Analytics, Kiwibank
  • our very own Tony Whale – BI Manager (Acting), Vodafone NZ

A number of questions were fired at the panel which they provided feedback around, and finally the floor was opened up for questions.

The evening finished up with networking over a glass of wine and canapes. Feedback from the session was very positive and we hope to do it again soon.
