Stellar adds senior sales executive to propel growth

Stellar Consulting Group, New Zealand’s leading independent business intelligence consultancy, has appointed Nicholas Glanfield to the newly created role of General Manager – Commercial.

Mr Glanfield’s responsibilities will include identifying and developing new business opportunities for Stellar, while strengthening relationships with the firm’s range of large business customers around the country.

Mr Glanfield was previously the Australia and New Zealand Sales Director for business intelligence products at Oracle, before moving into the Senior Sales Director role at Oracle New Zealand where he handled Applications, Business Intelligence & Financial Management products.

His 25-year career in the IT industry includes positions with Teradata, Computer Associates, Network Associates, Solnet, Eagle Technology and NCR.

“Nicholas is one of the top-tier sales professionals in the country,”says Stellar managing director Grant Broadbent. “He’s worked with a number of companies and has got really good results, so we’re very proud to have him join us.”

Mr Broadbent says he and fellow partners Travis Barker and John McDermott decided to create the position after reviewing Stellar’s structure and growth plans.

“We’re a medium-sized enterprise now and we’ve got a pretty aggressive growth plan. We see most of that growth being driven in the Wellington market but we’re also growing in Auckland.

“To make sure that growth plan succeeds, we decided it was time to expand our executive team.”

Mr Glanfield, who attended Rangitoto College on Auckland’s North Shore and is completing a Masters degree in Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Auckland, says joining Stellar is “a fantastic opportunity.”

“I’ve been lucky to work for a number of multinationals over the past few years as well as some local organizations. But the thing I’ve looked for is the ability to effect change and be involved in something that really is at a tipping point, and ready to move to the next stage.

“At Stellar, Grant, Travis and John have done an amazing job and built a very strong foundation. They have great customers and they have stuck to their knitting – BI and information management is what they do.”

Mr Glanfield says he’s still surprised at how many businesses are missing opportunities to exploit one of their biggest assets – the information they hold.

“I’ve heard that in a lot of my discussions with executives during my previous roles, so becoming involved in a company like Stellar – which is totally focused on helping organizations leverage an underused asset – is very exciting.”
