Downstream 2015 Energy Conference

Stellar Consulting will be a Gold Sponsor of Downstream – the premier annual conference for everyone involved directly or indirectly in the downstream energy industry.

Downstream 2015 will be held on the 4th and 5th of March at SkyCity in Auckland. Now in its fourth year, the event is expected to attract more than 300 executives, regulators and other energy industry stakeholders.

Stellar has strong connections to the New Zealand energy industry, counting among its past and present customers leading energy firms Trustpower, Genesis Energy, Metrix / Mighty River Power and Vector.

The Downstream conference programme for 2015 has been developed to offer insights into current energy sector challenges, with a focus on changing consumer requirements and the impact of new technology.

“Stellar is delighted to be sponsoring Downstream 2015, which this year focuses on the need to engage consumers on their terms,” says Stellar Consulting Partner Travis Barker.

“Energy firms are well placed to drive targeted consumer acquisition and retention strategies, thanks to the vast amounts of consumption data they already collect. Their challenge now is uncovering and disseminating valuable insights that will help them stand out from the crowd in this highly competitive market.

“Stellar’s deep Business Intelligence and energy sector expertise is already helping New Zealand’s leading energy firms do just that.”

Among the more than 40 energy leaders scheduled to speak at Downstream are Michael Stiassny (chairman of Vector), Vince Hawksworth (Chief Executive of TrustPower), Albert Brantley (Chief Executive of Genesis Energy) and Hon Simon Bridges (Minister of Energy and Resources).

Chris O’Hara, GM of Commercial Operations at TrustPower, will present a Stellar-sponsored session entitled “Is utility convergence and increased share of wallet worth the journey?”

With the purchase of Energy Direct in July 2013, the launch of the new triple service offering (gas, electricity and telecom) in November 2013 and the re-entry into the metropolitan market in 2014, there has been a significant strategic change at Trustpower over the last few years, so this session should be well worth attending.
